Lawro predicts Spurs to lose to Newcastle

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Newcastle United will beat Tottenham Hotspur.

He told BBC Sport Online: “Newcastle are very unpredictable at the moment. They should probably have taken all three points at Sunderland last week because they were the better side but what you always get from them under manager Alan Pardew is a team willing to battle. They get their foot in and they press the opposition, and they do both of those things extremely well.

“Tottenham have been on a great run but they lost at Everton and drew at home to Manchester United in their last two league games, and I think they might be in for another frustrating time here.

“I still think Spurs are heading in the right direction, though. Steven Pienaar is an excellent signing from Everton, and he is a really useful player because he can play in any position across the midfield – he’s a good footballer, runs at people and commits defenders.

“Pienaar is another attack-minded player to add to the long list at Tottenham and it’s another clever buy by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.

“Redknapp has let David Bentley go out on loan to Birmingham, made Robbie Keane available and is probably thinking about allowing Nico Krankjar to leave as well. He is changing his options around in that department and has such great competition for places.

“Prediction: 2-1.”

    COYS

  2. dont tell me, and he predicts Liverpool to win. Lawro has no expertise in these matters and his predictions are more on wishful thinking than anything else.
He should wake up and smell the coffee and realize his beloved Liverpool are crap

  3. Why oh why do we seem to to get the same old story from Mr Liverpool Lawrenson, Spurs are going to lose to this team and that team all season long, if I was that bad at my job would I still be in it I don’t think so

Do you think he can let go of the past and look to the future the new kids are on the block and his beloved Liverpool are now the Spurs team of old

Get a grip Lowrow and give us some credit

we have lived in your shadow for so long, now it’s your turn

  4. We generally do quite well against you lot at SJP. Saying that, we are VERY under strength and I reckon a draw is likely. If not, then a tight Spurs win.

  5. This game will really show if Spurs have it in them. A pressing opposition, cold weather, long journey north, can all unsettle the style kings. But If we fold on Sat I don’t think we’ll have enough in these sort of games (rather than the glam ones) to get top 4. So, let’s get up for this lads. COYS!

  6. That is the best news I could have.I am writeing a poem. The first lines go something like this:
    "BBC PREDICTIONS ARE INSANE
AS LAWRO GETS IT WRONG AGAIN.

  7. i think lawro is spot on, we havent been all that great recnetly . newcastle can be brillliant at home so we willl be lucky to get a point . and if we play with crouch we are at a serious disadvantage

  8. these days everybody predict that we will loose everything, but somehow we managed to get best ever seen result in group stage CL… how that happened ? never before somebody had average of min. 2 goals in CL groups…not even barcelona, chelsea, united….how that happene….all of them are very jelaous an envy us a lot…f*ck all of journalists and people who think are worth of saying anything… i heard mancini sad these days thays that we will had problems getting 4. spot…f*uck you italian idiot…mind your own business…we will destroy your owful team, you sholud be more worried about your boring style of football you play, but you obviously have more interest to look foolish in newspaper that to correct your poor players to play better…he should be sacked months ago,f*uck the result italian 1-0,the beauty of game is what matters…awful noninteligent coach, what to say

  9. I disagree with everything said here, except that Pienaar is a good signing – Everton's best player for £3 million. Now that we've signed Pieenar Harry should NOT see this as an excuse to sell both Krancjar and Keane. If we lose Bentley, Keane and Krancjar this window we will be significantly weakened in attack. Especially for Champions League games.

A top four team is all about having a big squad. Levy do not sell half the attacking players in our squad!

  10. looks like lawro is right, 1 -0 down after another pathetic display, defoe up front on his own? no pav? harry wat are u at! title challenge ? looks more like mid table , harry u bluffer
