Le Tissier on why Spurs will relish playing City and Liverpool

Tottenham currently sit in the third position in the Premier League table with 60 points, 5 points behind Liverpool and Manchester City. Both Liverpool and Spurs, however, have one game in hand over City.

Tottenham have managed to give themselves a shot of winning the title despite suffering several injuries to key players and subsequently being written off by most experts and pundits.

Spurs have had a rare week and a half of rest without any fixtures before they travel to Burnley on Saturday.

With Harry Kane and Dele Alli close to returning to action, it appears as if Spurs are peaking at the right time with 12 games left to go in the season. However, Tottenham arguably have the tougher fixture list to contend with in comparison to their rivals as they have to make trips to both the Etihad as well as Anfield.

However, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has said that Tottenham will be relishing the challenge of playing both the teams.

Speaking to Gillette Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News (13:28, 16/2/19) the 50-year-old said, “I think if you are in that position, if you are chasing, what you do want to do is have to play those teams because then you guarantee if you win the game, they are not picking up points.”
