Le Tissier singles out who has been Tottenham’s worst performer this season

Tottenham Hotspur will take to the field at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Saturday evening in the biggest game in the club’s history.

Mauricio Pochettino’s transformation of the fortunes of Tottenham over the past five years has been nothing short of remarkable, with the players and manager on the cusp of becoming legendary figures.

Standing between themselves and a place in history are Liverpool, the five-time European Cup winners. There are key battles all over the pitch and one position among the Spurs ranks which unsettles supporters is at right-back.

Kieran Trippier had a fantastic World Cup campaign in which he scored a stunning free-kick in the semi-final against Croatia and since that moment his career has been in decline.

He was recently left out of England’s squad for the UEFA Nations League finals and has been singled out by former Southampton midfielder turned football pundit Matt Le Tissier as Tottenham’s weak link.

Le Tissier told Sky Sports: “Trippier has been the weakest link in Tottenham’s defence. Liverpool should be just a little bit stronger in each department and there is not any great logic that tells you Tottenham should win this game.”

Opinion

He is right with his claim that Trippier has been the poor aspect of our defence and nobody will know that more going into the final than the player himself. He will certainly be motivated to prove everyone wrong and hopefully he can play a key part in keeping Liverpool’s attacking trio at bay.
