‘Leads by example’ – Liverpool captain claims Harry Kane is a better leader than him

Jordan Henderson has praised Harry Kane’s leadership skills, even insisting that the Tottenham striker is a better captain than him.

Kane has been instrumental for England ever since breaking into the Three Lions set-up back in 2015 and he is on course to break Wayne Rooney’s all-time record tally of 53 goals for his country.

The Tottenham man is only four short of Rooney’s tally and would be hoping to overtake the former Manchester United striker in the World Cup in Qatar this November.

Apart from being the first name on Gareth Southgate’s team sheet, Kane has also been a great leader for his country, having worn the armband since 2017.

The 28-year-old talked in glowing terms of Jordan Henderson’s leadership qualities in the England set-up during an interview on The Overlap last summer.

Henderson has now returned the favour, praising Kane for leading by example both on and off the pitch.

Speaking about Kane’s captaincy on the YouTube channel Nationwide Building Society, the midfielder said: “Yeah, he’s a very good leader. Leads by example on the pitch and off the pitch.”

When asked if Kane was as good a leader as him, Henderson responded with a smile: “Yeah, he’s better than me.”

Spurs Web Opinion

They are often the best judges of other players and it is evident that the 28-year-old is one of the most highly respected footballers in the game at the moment.
