‘Leaps and bounds’ – Pundit claims Spurs star is better than Lewandowski

According to TalkSport pundit and former Spurs player Jamie O’Hara, Tottenham’s Harry Kane is a better player than Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski.

There’s no doubt that Kane is one of the best strikers in world football, and he has the numbers to prove it. With 261 goals in 408 appearances for Spurs (Transfermarkt), he is now just five goals away from drawing level with Jimmy Greaves as the club’s all-time top goalscorer (MyFootballFacts).

The 29-year-old has 195 Premier League goals, putting him third in the competition’s all-time goalscoring charts (PremierLeague.com), and there’s every chance he could catch Alan Shearer’s record of 260 goals before he retires.

He is also closing in on the record for England, too. With 51 goals in just 78 appearances for the national team (Transfermarkt), Kane needs just two goals to go level with Wayne Rooney.

Realistically, the only thing anyone can ever criticise Kane for is his lack of team silverware. That said, he has plenty of individual honours to his name, including three Premier League Golden Boot awards, the World Cup Golden Boot in 2018, and two PFA Player of the Year awards.

For Lewandowski meanwhile, there are a wealth of honours. Not only does he have 527 career goals at club level (Transfermarkt) and 77 goals for Poland (Transfermarkt), but he has also won the Champions League with Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga ten times, and various other domestic trophies in Germany and Poland (Transfermarkt).

But who is better? Jamie O’Hara thinks the answer is simple, after witnessing both players at the World Cup this year in Qatar.

He said: “I watched Lewandowski tonight and he was horrendous. He was woeful. I’ve not seen anything for me at this World Cup that says he’s a better player than Harry Kane.

“Players that are playing over in Europe, and then you see them on the international stage, some of them, I’m like ‘I’m not seeing it.'”

“Lewandowski’s goal record is amazing, he’s won everything but he’s always played for the best sides. He’s played for Bayern Munich and then he’s gone to Barcelona.

“He’s going to be winning things. Harry Kane for me is playing at Tottenham and is going to break the Premier League goal record.

“If [Kane] was playing for Bayern Munich or Barcelona or Man City, he’s leaps and bounds over Lewandowski.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Robert Lewandowski is obviously an incredible player and offers such a goal threat, but if it came down to picking one player to have in your team, Harry Kane wins that every day for me.

Kane offers so much more than just goals, and his all-round play, his vision, his footballing intelligence, all those things sets him apart.
