Ledley King picks out two Spurs stars for praise after 2-2 draw against Liverpool

Ledley King has praised the performances of Dele Alli and Eric Dier in Tottenham’s thrilling 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.

Tottenham were in action for the first time in two weeks and, as expected, Antonio Conte had to do without some of his first-choice eleven.

Alli, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon came into the side for Lucas Moura, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Sergio Reguilon as Conte shifted from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2.

On the balance of play, Spurs will be disappointed that they did not get all three points as they missed several gilt-edged opportunities.

Dier put in another solid display at the back and took up excellent positions to repeal crosses coming into the box.

The centre-back also displayed his ability on the ball, picking out some exquisite through balls over the top for the Spurs attackers.

While Alli will be disappointed at not getting on the scoresheet, the 25-year-old put in an energetic display on and off the ball, making some excellent runs behind the Liverpool backline.

King took to social media to admit he was impressed with what he saw from the two England players.

There are very few people better equipped to judge centre-backs than King, who was one of the best at reading the game during his playing days. The fact that he has heaped praise on Dier tells you all that you need to know about how well the 27-year-old is playing.

I have always been a fan of Dier even when he was being criticised by large parts of the fan base last season as I believe he possesses all the attributes to become a top centre-half. His positioning was excellent once again yesterday, which is helped by the fact that he has a much clearer understanding of his role under Conte.
