Ledley King reveals which Spurs player could potentially benefit the most from his coaching

Ledley King has admitted that he is most looking forward to working with Davinson Sanchez due to the similarities the Colombian shares with him as a player.

Tottenham confirmed last month that King will join Mourinho’s staff this season following the departure of tactical analyst Ricardo Formosinho.

As expected, given the 39-year-old’s legendary status at the club, the appontment was well received by many Spurs fans on social media.

Reports indicate that Mourinho’s decision to appoint King is not necessarily a PR-move and that the Spurs boss was impressed with the connection that he had with some of the players (Athletic).

It has been claimed that rather than taking over the tactical analysis responsibilities of Formosinho, King’s primary involvement will be focused around defensive coaching drills, with a particular focus on helping the club’s academy graduates break into the first-team.

The former club ambassador has now revealed that he is excited to work with the likes of Sanchez to help improve parts of his game.

When asked which first-team player he was keen to work with, King told talkSPORT: “For me, working with the likes of Japhet and Davinson is very exciting.

“Davinson I would say is the player most like me in the squad in terms of style, so if I can bring something that can help him further himself, that would be great.”

Sanchez, like King, is blessed with fantastic physical attributes but the Colombian is not on par with the former Spurs defender when it comes to reading the game and sensing danger. His concentration levels also sometimes leave a lot to be desired. If King can help the 24-year-old improve those parts of his game, Sanchez could evolve into a world-class defender.
