Ledley King sings praises of Spurs starlet – Even compares him with Kane

Ledley King, former Spurs captain and an England international, has now sung the praises of the club’s exciting, young prospect, Dane Scarlett.

After Scarlett made the headlines when grabbing Spurs’ only goal in the pre-season draw with Leyton Orient at the weekend, King was highly complimentary of the teenage striker.

17-year-old Scarlett was thrown a start in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge and he grabbed the opener with a mature finish on 38 minutes. In a mix of youth and experience, Scarlett started ahead of a three of Lucas, Dele and Bergwijn.

It was the Brazilian who played a perfect first-time ball to the teenager, which Dane finished with aplomb – much like a certain other expert finisher we may know.

Ledley King, who was a part of Spurs TV‘s broadcast, was keen to stress his ability (as relayed by Football London): “He’s just got that eye for the goal, knows his way around the box and he’s got two unbelievable feet. Really strikes a ball well off both feet.”

Incredible finisher and ambidextrous, who else do we know like that? King didn’t shy away from such comparisons, likening their physical journeys.

He told viewers, “His body type will change a lot, we saw that with Harry Kane even when he first came into the team to where he is now”

King is not the only one to increase the hype around Scarlett. Whilst manager, Mourinho piled on the complements, suggesting recently he would be a future England star.

SpursWeb opinion

Scarlett is one of the most exciting prospects for Spurs fans in years. Kane himself didn’t receive hype of this proportion, especially so young.

However, from what we have seen from him, he seems to live up to that billing. Still, just 17 years old, he has got an assist in the Europa League, made his Premier League debut and should feature a lot more for Spurs this season. Watch. This. Space.
