Ledley King thinks teams are learning how to make things tricky for Harry Kane

Ledley King has claimed that opposition teams are now doubling up on Harry Kane as they realise he is Tottenham’s main creative outlet.

Spurs fans would have been hoping for a response from the side against Brentford following their surprise defeat to Brighton at home the previous weekend.

However, much like the game against the Seagulls, the Lilywhites struggled to create chances throughout the 90 minutes.

Kane was a passenger for large parts of the encounter, with the Bees not giving the 28-year-old any time or space when he dropped deep to get on the ball.

The 0-0 draw at the Brentford Community Stadium has seen Spurs drop to fifth place behind their North London rivals Arsenal.

King has hinted that Spurs have become predictable in the way they build up through Kane and that opposition teams have been able to prevent the Lilywhites from building any momentum by getting bodies around the England captain.

The Spurs legend told Premier League Productions (23/04/22 at 7:35 pm): “With Harry (Kane), I think teams are sensing that Tottenham like to build up through Harry.

“They are really doubling up on him, at times. Getting bodies around him and making it difficult. And that seems to have taken Tottenham out of their momentum.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Just like against Brighton, Conte did not want to change things up despite us evidently struggling to create chances.

The Italian is not only hesitant to ever press opposition teams high up the pitch but he also seems reluctant to roll the dice by making personal changes.

He could have given the likes of Moura and Bergwijn 20 or 30 minutes, given how things were going.
