“Tottenham has been the only Club for me”

Ledley King - Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Ledley King has revealed that he will talk to Tottenham Hotspur over the course of the summer regarding his future.

The defender is out of contract at White Hart Lane and has rightly been given several options by the club.  King will go down in Spurs history as one of the rue legends to ever put on our famous shirt – whereas others have left for regular Champions League football or a fatter wage packet, Ledley has always remained loyal to the club we love, so it’s only right that this is reciprocated.

Read into what you want about Ledley’s playing future from the quotes below – but we won’t be giving up on him until he officially hangs up his boots.  If this is sadly the case then if means we have to step up the chase for Jan Vertonghen immediately.

He told the official Spurs site: “I had a really good start to last season and was pleased to play as many games as I did. A knock in training set me back towards the end, but I opted to carry on playing rather than take the time out to have the knee seen to. Unfortunately that meant that I didn’t play the last few games at the standard I would have liked.

“I’ve been discussing things with the Club and my contract expires this summer. The Club has been fantastic in supporting me and given me several options to stay involved with Tottenham. I shall take a view with them pre-season on my future.

“Tottenham has been the only Club for me and if I can’t play here then I shall look to be involved in another capacity.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Player coach perhaps would be a good idea, there's no point in Ledley being a cripple after his football career comes to and end, best try and get 10-15 good games and let Ledders bring on the kids and coach the first team!

  2. what can you say about the man,the word legend is used too often, for unworthy recipients but Ledley is a TRUE legend. If fit then the pretender terry would never of played for England and Deadly would be up there with Bobby Moore!

  3. Fantastic Rolls Royce of a player I hope he can achieve a coaching job within the club. He should have a testimonial.

I really do not want to see an unfit for purpose Ledley out on the park, it is too sad and undermines the reputation of one of the best defenders Britain has ever produced.

  4. what else can you say about ledley other then ledgend! Thats the bar young footballers need to aim for his commitment to the club is 2nd to none!

  5. Could do with another 10 Ledleys in the Team, as i have said many times he should be given a Coaching roll within the club just to show him how loyal the Club can be as he was to the Club itself, well done Ledley may we see you here in many years to come

  6. First of all thank you Ledley for all you have done for my team and for being someone that kids could look up to and learn from. Secondly , a message to a certain S.Campbell………..you are not fit to eat Ledley's shit.

  7. King is a true Spurs giant, period.I think his understandable drop in form at the end of the season probably cost us 3rd place. But his overall season helped us ensure 4th. It sad that many fans have been critical of Redknap when injuries played such a role at the end.

  8. Leds you are the best defender spurs have had for years, my son is a center back for a pro club and i always tell him to watch you, your a legend.

  9. Ledley King . What a LEDGEND ! if there was no injury then there would be no doubt that he could have been One of nglands best evr centre backs. keephim as a coach
