Leeds star reveals what Harry Winks told him on the bench about Pochettino

Leeds United and England star, Kalvin Phillips, has now revealed that Harry Winks talked to him about Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Phillips, Winks and Eric Dier were all on the bench for Tottenham’s game against Leeds United towards the end of last season, a game which Leeds won 3-1.

With the trio knowing each other well from England duties, Phillips revealed that they were talking about the style of play under Leeds manager, Marcelo Bielsa.

Harry Winks apparently claimed that Pochettino was of the same style in terms of his desire and passion for football, with Phillips stating that he has only ever heard Pep Guardiola and Poch likened to his current boss.

The Sun recently reported that Pochettino is keen on a return to Tottenham this summer, with chairman Daniel Levy also interested.

While The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold both reported that talks had been held between the Argentine and Tottenham.

Phillips said (GQ Magazine): “His desire, his dedication to the football, it’s beyond anyone that I’ve ever read about or met (about Bielsa).

“And I think the only few people that I’ve heard that are close to him are obviously Pep [Guardiola] at [Manchester] City and [Mauricio] Pochettino, who’s now at PSG

“I was speaking to Eric Dier and Harry Winks. I was on the bench for our last game against Tottenham. And Harry was saying that [ex-Spurs manager] Pochettino is exactly the same.”
