Leeds United complete £13m signing of rumoured Spurs target

Leeds United have confirmed the signing of rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Robin Koch, in a deal estimated to be worth around £13 million.

Koch enjoyed an outstanding campaign at the back for Freiburg last season and his performances reportedly caught the attention of several clubs including Spurs.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the centre-half during the January transfer window (Record via Sport Witness) and reports from Germany indicated that he was still on the club’s radar this summer (Bild).

The Sun reported last week that Leeds were set to step up their efforts to sign Koch after seeing multiple bids turned down by Brighton for defender Ben White.

The Whites confirmed in an official statement on Saturday that the German international is on his way to Elland Road after the club reached an agreement with Freiburg.

The versatile defender has penned a four-year contract with Marcelo Bielsa’s side ahead of their return to the top flight next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Koch is a talented defender who would fit in perfectly with Marcelo Bielsa’s style of play. I am not surprised that Leeds have gone for him as an alternative to Ben White. It does not appear as if our interest in the former Freiburg man was ever too serious as he was just one of many centre-back options we have been linked with this summer. If recent reports are to be believed, Milan Skriniar seems to be the one Jose is keen on.
