Leeds United plot move for player Tottenham only sold last summer

Leeds United are the second club to contemplate offering a route back to the Premier League for a player who Tottenham sold for a cut-price fee last summer.

While many of Tottenham Hotspur’s forwards have not reached the expected heights this season, one man who the club sold last summer has been scoring goals for fun.

Since making a €8m (£6.8m) switch to AZ Alkmaar less than 12 months ago, Troy Parrott has found the back of the net 20 times across all competitions while also registering eight assists.

It emerged a couple of days ago that Wolves are eyeing a summer move for Parrott, and the Midlands club have now reportedly joined in the race for the Spurs academy graduate by another English club.

Leeds United eyeing move for Troy Parrott

Leeds secured the Championship title in dramatic fashion on Saturday through a stoppage-time winner from on-loan Tottenham man Manor Solomon, and according to TEAMtalk, they are prioritising signing a number nine ahead of their return to the Premier League.

The report reveals that Daniel Farke’s side have watched Parrott’s progress at the AFAS Stadium closely and are now considering making a move for the former Spurs man.

The outlet states that it is unclear if AZ would be open to letting the Republic of Ireland international leave after just one season at the club.

However, the publication adds that an offer of around €20m-€25m (£17m-£21.3m) for Parrott will give the Eredivisie club a difficult decision to make.

Leeds also plotting move for striker who is on Tottenham’s radar

Parrott is not the only number nine that the Yorkshire club are allegedly looking at, with the newly promoted side also thought to have their eye on Brighton’s Evan Ferguson.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham have been long-term admirers of Ferguson, but the striker has struggled on loan at West Ham and is yet to find the back of the net since his January switch to the London Stadium.

If Leeds do step up their interest in the 20-year-old this summer, it will be interesting to see if Spurs get involved in the race.
