‘Left it late’ – Kane, Bale and co react following tense FA Cup win over Wycombe

A number of Tottenham players including the likes of Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg took to social media to express their delight at getting the better of Wycombe and progressing to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Jose Mourinho warned before the game that his side would face a much more difficult task last night than they did in the third round against Marine and that is exactly how it proved.

Spurs squandered several chances early in the game and it seemed like the missed opportunities could come back to haunt the North Londoners when the home side took the lead midway into the first half.

After both Moussa Sissoko and Japhet Tanganga both hit the woodwork, Mourinho’s men equalised through a smart finish from Bale just before the interval.

Tottenham continued to be wasteful in front of goal after the break, with the Portuguese having to bring on Kane, Son, Hojbjerg and Ndombele as his side went in search of a winner.

The away side’s quality shone through late in the game as they got three quick-fire goals after the 85th minute to put some gloss on the scoreline.

Based on the reaction of the Spurs stars on social media, it is clear that the players were desperate to progress to the next round.

Here’s how they reacted to the result:
