Leicester City in ‘advanced talks’ with figure who left Spurs earlier this year

According to sources at Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur’s former scout Peter Braund could be heading to Leicester City after his exit from North London at the end of last season.

Braund had been with Tottenham since 2017 and was believed to have a good connection with the club’s former technical director Steve Hitchen, who left his role in February 2022.

For 56-year-old Braund, the spell at Tottenham came after two long stints with Premier League rivals Manchester United and a role as chief scout for German side Hannover, where he operated for three years.

Spurs have overhauled their scouting structure recently in an attempt to establish one of the best scouting networks in Europe of late (Football.London). Sadly Braund will not be a part of that journey with the North London club.

One of Braund’s more high-profile missions with Spurs was to scout Bristol City star Alex Scott back in February (Football World).

Leicester City could now acquire Braund’s services after advertising their desire to bring in an experienced scout for the German market, with a view to exploring that region in the January transfer window.

The Foxes are believed to be in negotiation with Braund after “identifying him as a strong candidate.” The recruitment team at Leicester is currently overseen by head of recruitment Martyn Glover.

Leicester’s ventures into Germany have produced mixed results in recent years, with the likes of Caglar Soyuncu joining from SC Freiburg in 2018.

They previously acquired Shinji Okazaki from Mainz and Christian Fuchs from Schalke, players who won the Premier League in the 2015-16 season with the midlands club.

Spurs Web Opinion

The scouting network at Spurs needed work, and for whatever reason, Peter Braund wasn’t a part of the new direction. If he does go to Leicester City, we wish him all the best, and I’m sure he will do a fine job there.
