Leicester City star reacts to Tottenham goal against Fulham with applause

James Maddison took to social media to express his delight for Dele Alli after the Tottenham midfielder found the back of the net in the North Londoners’ 1-0 win over Fulham on Thursday.

Alli was handed just his second Premier League start of the season, with the midfielder serving as a number ten behind a frontline of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale.

The midfielder turned Son’s low cross into the Fulham net via a deflection off Tosin Adarabioyo to give the away side the lead.

Maddison took to Instagram to applaud Alli for scoring his first Premier League goal of the season.

The Leicester midfielder is a good friend of Alli’s, with the pair reportedly being on a WhatsApp group together along with Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell, and Aston Villa trio Jack Grealish, John McGinn and Ross Barkley (Daily Mail).

However, to Alli’s disappointment, the goal was eventually adjudged to be an own-goal by Adarabioyo.

Alli put in a great shift without the ball yesterday but much like the rest of Tottenham’s forward line, he looked pretty lacklustre in possession. Lamela did enough in his late cameo to warrant a start in the England international’s expense against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
