Leicester in talks with midfielder linked with Spurs and Man Utd

One of the positions where Tottenham are looking to strengthen in the summer is in midfield.

Spurs have been left short in the position this season after the sale of Mousa Dembele and the injury troubles of Victor Wanyama.

Among the players linked with the club is Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans. The Belgian who is currently on loan at Leicester has proven that he is more than capable of coping with Premier League football.

The 21-year-old, who scored his first goal for Belgium last week during their 3-1 win over Russia, is said to be valued at £40million by Monaco.

Tielemans is said to be attracting the interest of several clubs including Tottenham and Manchester United.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers said the club is working on signing the midfielder on a permanent basis despite the recent departure of the club’s head of recruitment.

Speaking to the Sun, Rodgers said, “The work is ongoing. Of course, there is a hole in terms of the head of recruitment role.

“However work has been going on below that and conversations with Monaco are taking place. There are a lot of good people behind the scenes who are continuing the work.”
