Lennon to play as a striker?

Robbie Keane

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is hoping that Robbie Keane will be fit to face Blackburn on Saturday.

The Irish striker missed the 1-1 draw with Sunderland due to an ankle injury and Harry is left with a striker selection problem due to Pav’s back injury.

This has left the Spurs boss tempted to play Aaron Lennon in a forward role just off Peter Crouch.

“I could do with Robbie if Pavlyuchenko’s got a bad back,” said Redknapp. “It leaves me with only Crouchy.

“I’ve got no-one else I can push up front, really, even (Aaron) Lennon, who could play through the middle at a pinch.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Lennon striker! Why not play someone of whom has scored recently, Bale? Modders could run the LW with VDV in the middle beside Hudds and have a Bale/Crouch partnership?

  2. I feel a striker is a must in January .Why not try carroll of newcastle as a replacement for crouch or davies of bolton. They could be a foil for defoe or for van der varrtt to play off.

  3. Because Carroll would be nuts to leave Newcastle for us. He is first choice, scoring, adored by thousands. A move now is wrong for him. Davies too old, and wouldn't score enough. Someone suggested Rodellega – hirstorically he hasn't scored that many – but he is playing Wigan who don't score many anyway. Plus he is scoring now – 4 goals already in the league. Certainly beats Crouch's total of zero. I am sure he wouldn't refuse us as there is a chance of European football, more recognition and a higher salary. He may not be perfect, but he is the right age – and maybe the right price. SpursMalaysia – I don't think Obika is the answer….

  4. What happened to Dos Santos? was great for Mexio in world cup he could do a job up front? i am fed up of us playing 1 up front, we didnt get into the CL by playing 1 up front last year?????
