‘Less foolish’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals what Levy told Conte after outburst

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy assured Antonio Conte that he is the right man for the job and asked him to be more relaxed in his post-match interviews.

Conte’s post-match press conference following Spurs’ loss to Burnley on Wednesday created quite a bit of controversy (Football.London).

The Italian seemed to hint that he might not be the right man to turn around Tottenham’s fortunes and suggested that his position needed to be evaluated.

The Sun reported on Thursday that Daniel Levy planned to meet with Conte and look to convince the 52-year-old that he is the man to help the North London club win silverware.

The meeting certainly seemed to have the desired effect as the Tottenham head coach was much calmer in his press conference on Friday (Tottenham’s YouTube channel), where he stated that the club value the work he has been doing in his four months in charge.

Romano has now explained what was said in the meeting between Conte and the Spurs chairman.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “From Tottenham’s side they want to go together with him.

“But they want him to be more relaxed with less foolish reaction, this is why Conte has said sorry.

“But at the same time, he wants Tottenham to think with a winning mentality and push to think of the future.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I was pretty furious with Conte’s comments after our loss against Burnley but I was glad to see that he explained himself on Friday and admitted that he got emotional after another loss.

Hopefully, this would be the last of the post-match outbursts we will see from him as I do not think going public with his discontent or anger does anyone at the club any favours.
