“Let him leave” – Some Spurs fans are divided over first-team player

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Christian Eriksen has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer (Marca) but a move has yet to materialise.

The Danish international is currently in Singapore with the rest of the Spurs squad on a pre-season tour.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino refused to comment on the speculation surrounding the 27-year-old’s future yesterday (Football.London) but according to a report in Spain, Madrid are finding it hard to meet Tottenham’s asking price for the Danish international since they already heavily invested in new recruits this summer (El Confidencial).

Now, The Daily Mail have reported that the Lilywhites have offered Eriksen a new contract worth £200,000-a-week, which is more than double the £80,000 a week he earns at the club at present.

While some Spurs fans were delighted to hear about the news, others insisted that it was counterproductive to keep players who want to leave the club.

Here’s how some fans reacted on social media to the news:

While Eriksen wasn’t at his best last season, he has shown over the course of his Spurs career that he is next to irreplaceable.

We at Spurs Web think it would be brilliant for the club if the Dane is to commit his long term future.
