‘Let’s go’ – Erik Lamela sends supportive message to Ryan Mason ahead of Spurs vs Man Utd

Erik Lamela is delighted to see Ryan Mason being handed the Spurs reins until the end of the season, with the winger wishing his former Tottenham teammate the best.

It did not come as a surprise when Tottenham decided to pull the plug on the Cristian Stellini experiment following the Lilywhites’ 6-1 drubbing at St James’ Park on Sunday.

The Italian and the rest of Antonio Conte’s coaching staff (apart from set-piece coach Gianni Vio) were asked to pack their bags, with Mason once again being asked to steer the ship, just as he did towards the end of the 2020-21 season after Jose Mourinho was sacked.

Spurs confirmed on Tuesday that Matt Wells, Nigel Gibbs and Perry Suckling will assist Mason in their roles as acting assistant head coach, acting first-team coach and acting goalkeeping coach respectively.

Lamela not only worked under Mason during his brief spell in charge two years ago but the Argentine also played alongside the midfielder for Tottenham.

Here’s how the Sevilla man reacted to the development:

We could certainly use someone like Lamela at this moment, given the passion and fight that Coco showed every single time he put the shirt on.

That is the sort of fight that Mason will demand from the team when they step out onto the park on Thursday against Manchester United.
