‘Leverage over Levy’ – Simon Jordan argues Spurs have changed directions now

Simon Jordan expects Daniel Levy to back Antonio Conte to a much higher degree than he did previous Spurs managers.

Levy has long been criticised for failing to back some of his previous managers at the time, including most recently Mauricio Pochettino.

Conte has proven to be a hard man to please so far in his managerial career but so far things have been relatively smooth sailing for the Italian at the North London club.

Tottenham were extremely busy during the summer transfer window, with seven new players arriving through the door, including Destiny Udogie, who was loaned back to Udinese.

Reports over recent months have indicated that the Spurs hierarchy are once again expected to back Conte in January, with the club potentially set to make three new signings (Evening Standard).

Jordan believes that the 53-year-old will deliver trophies at Spurs if Levy supports his long-term vision.

The former Crystal Palace owner told talkSPORT: “Now Tottenham have changed the direction of travel by getting somebody in that’s perfectly capable of being able to handle Daniel Levy.

“Knowing that Daniel Levy wanted him on two or three occasions, he’s in the door with leverage over Daniel Levy, which means that he’s going to be able to get sufficient support to be able to back his ambitions.

“So Conte then is a winner. Yeah, he’s a winner. Absolutely he’s a winner. No doubt about it he’s a winner. He will win something, no doubt if he’s given a certain amount of support. I do. I do believe he’s a winner.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Levy values Conte very highly, with some reports even suggesting that the Spurs chairman considers the Italian to be the best manager he has worked with in his two decades in charge of the club (The Athletic).

So, I believe Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy will do what it takes to keep Conte happy, including gambling a bit over the next few transfer windows in an effort to win silverware.
