Leverkusen director asked about potential £34.5m bid for Hincapie from Spurs

German publication Kicker asked Bayer Leverkusen’s Sporting Director Simon Rolfes whether a Tottenham bid of around £34.5m would tempt them into selling centre-back Piero Hincapie this summer.

Spurs are expected to spend big on a left-sided centre-back this summer, with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Josko Gvardiol, Pau Torres and Clement Lenglet thought to be among the names on the club’s radar (The Athletic).

Hincapie is another name who has been mooted as a target for the Lilywhites, with The Sun reporting earlier this month that Antonio Conte is keen on snapping up the 20-year-old.

The report added that Spurs have been informed they would have to pay £34m for the Ecuador international.

Kicker have now hinted at a possible incoming bid of €40m (£34.5m) from the North London club and asked Leverkusen’s director of sport Simon Rolfes if such an offer from Spurs would be accepted.

Rolfes is quoted in the report as saying: “Basically, one thing is clear: Piero has a long contract, he is a young player who is already constantly offering the highest level. We are very happy that he is here.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is anybody’s guess at this point who Tottenham’s top target for the left centre-back role is, given the sheer number of players we have been linked with.

However, the fact that Spurs are remaining patient, suggests that they might believe that one of their top targets could become available later in the window.
