Levy confident of sealing first Spurs deal of the summer

According to The Mirror (www.mirror.co.uk/sport) Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy believes he can still snap up Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for not more than the £20m he was prepared to go to despite the Midlands club recent takeover.

The article describes how Spurs boss wants the talented star and believes he can compete with Dele Alli for a spot behind Harry Kane next season.

Levy has so far held off bidding on Grealish, hoping to exploit Villa’s cash woes under Dr Tony Xia, which left the Championship club on the brink of administration and the article says Spurs and Villa only opened talks last week on the transfer of the former Republic of Ireland youth international.

However Villa were sold to billionaires Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens which has strengthened their position in any Grealish sale

The article goes on to say Sawiris and Edens have backed boss Steve Bruce and are keen to see Villa back in the big time following their play-off final defeat last season

It adds that their is still uncertainty at Villa Park over Grealish as the club are still under pressure from Financial Fair Play rules and it also adds that the player himself has told pals he wants a return to the Premier League and in turn boost his chances of a senior England call up.

The articles concludes saying that infamous negotiator Levy is still hopeful of getting his man without paying more than £20m.
