According to The Mirror (www.mirror.co.uk/sport)  Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy believes he can still snap up Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for not more than the £20m he was prepared to go to despite the Midlands club recent takeover.

The article describes how Spurs boss wants the talented star and believes he can compete with Dele Alli for a spot behind Harry Kane next season.

Levy has so far held off bidding on Grealish, hoping to exploit Villa’s cash woes under Dr Tony Xia, which left the Championship club on the brink of administration and the article says Spurs and Villa only opened talks last week on the transfer of the former Republic of Ireland youth international.

However Villa were sold to billionaires Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens which has strengthened their position in any Grealish sale

The article goes on to say Sawiris and Edens have backed boss Steve Bruce and are keen to  see Villa back in the big time following their play-off final defeat last season

It adds that their is still uncertainty at Villa Park over Grealish as the club are still under pressure from Financial Fair Play rules and it also adds that the player himself has told pals he wants a return to the Premier League and in turn boost his chances of a senior England call up.

The articles concludes saying that infamous negotiator Levy is still hopeful of getting his man without paying more than £20m.

  1. There’s Levy’s world and there’s the real world. He’s got NO chance of grabbing Grealish for 20m or anything like it!! Ha HA JOKER

  2. ‘talented star’? Talented in what ways? Goals? No – barely scores. Assists? No. Sure, let’s add another talent to Lamela, Sissoko and Llorente – none of whom know where the goal is and none of whom know what an assist is – except of course against lower league opposition and in friendlies. No use against PL opposition. We need proper talent. Martial fits the bill.

  3. I don`t rate Deli Ali in the super star bracket or even in the above average footballer for my mind his work rate is poor his passing can be messy he looses poccession quite a lot and if this lad Grealish is an improvement on Deli Ali I welcome that , I have not heard just how good Grealish is or who he plays like or his preferred position is and will MP play him in his preferred position send me your comments guys just for me to get an idea just what kind of player we have been linked to for most of this year .

    • So a player who has scored 37 goals and provided 26 assists in 106 premier league games is only average.

Compare him with the best in the Premier league and his stats stack up pretty well.
He has more assists than Salah, and scores more than De Bruyne.
He makes more tackles, more interceptions, more clearances and more blocks than either of them per game too.
He wins more headers as well, and covers more ground per game.
He is also considerably younger than either player, and is nowhere near the finished article.
His stats are far more impressive than Bales were during his entire time at WHL, or even Ronaldo’s at Man U.

Give him time and he could grow into a truly great player.

  4. daniel levy has been doing this kind of business for spurs for years and very successfully — i would like to see grealish, zaha, martial and decoure in our panel for this year but we must wait and see

  5. Strange how the new villa owners are backing Bruce? Didn’t they fire him last week and appoint an ex gooner?
