If reports in the press are to be believed, Tottenham are set to strengthen their squad considerably this summer, after failing to sign a single player in the last few transfer windows (The Sun).

Central midfield is one of the areas the club wishes to prioritise with Mauricio Pochettino reportedly identifying Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso and Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele as the two main targets (Football.London).

Sky Sport Italia reported a couple of days ago that Tottenham launched a bid worth €45m plus bonuses for the 22-year-old but that it was rejected by Lyon. It was suggested that Spurs will return with an improved offer for the French international.

It has emerged today that Ndombele has told Telefoot that he is interested in a move to Spurs.

When asked about the rumours linking him with the Lilywhites, the midfielder reportedly said to Telefoot: ” “Tottenham are a great team, a big club. They finished fourth in their league and reached the Champions League final. They are a big club and what player would not be interested by a big club? ”

These comments have gotten some Spurs fans on social media really excited with many urging Daniel Levy to complete the deal quickly:

Spurs Web Opinion

While Ndombele is likely to be pretty expensive given his exploits in the last couple of seasons, he is exactly the type of player that Spurs are crying out for in central midfield.

We at Spurs Web feel the club should do everything in their power to try and land the 22-year-old.

  1. It’s spurs, it’s levy and it’s the hangover of spending too much on a stadium and setting expectations to high. We will buy only if we sell and we will buy potential at best if we do. Levy will deviate now. Expect a new manager, a squad the demands to leave and stadium half empty watching players youve never heard of. Same old spurs.

  2. R u guys new or what levy always draws out transfers I promise u their will be new faces this year. Poch wasn’t posturing when he disclosed his desire to start new. If nor her he certainly had other options SMS levy knows that. As far as needing to sell that’d crap at made almost 100 mil just in champs league so the money Is there. Get used to this if u aren’t already and ffs give levy a break man he has done a hell of a job moving us to a place where we r competing every single year. We could be man u spending hundreds of millions with nothing to show for it. Spending money doesn’t ensure anything got to do it wisely something levy does better than anyone

  3. Need to sign players now !!
Get on with it, or once again other clubs will beat us to it,
while the chairman waits for a bargain.

Is it really necessary to publish comments that contain foul language. We all know it is used but do we have to look at it in print. Surely we don’t want our grandkids and kids reading this language. As one of the big clubs and a known family club which we pride our selves on being why are we having to read this material.
