Lewis family could consider Tottenham sale after Daniel Levy exit, journalist reveals

Tottenham could be set for another dramatic change, with reports emerging that the Lewis family may now be prepared to consider a sale of the club following Daniel Levy’s departure.

Tottenham Hotspur dropped one of the biggest bombshells just a few days after the summer window slammed shut, with the club announcing the departure of chairman Daniel Levy.

Levy spent well over two decades as chairman of Tottenham, a spell that was a mixed bag, with the chairman receiving his fair share of criticism from fans for his lack of ambition and the lack of silverware during his tenure.

However, from a business perspective, Daniel Levy ensured that Tottenham remained profitable throughout his time at the helm, and he also oversaw the building of a state-of-the-art stadium, a project he has often described as his greatest achievement.

Alan Nixon of The Sun has now reported that, following Levy’s exit, the Lewis family are actively considering selling Tottenham Hotspur, a development that could reshape the future of the club both on and off the pitch.

Levy ensured he left Spurs on a high, as his departure came in the same summer Tottenham finally ended their 17-year wait for silverware, lifting the Europa League last season in a moment that will live long in the memory of supporters.

The former chairman also sanctioned a major summer of spending before stepping away, with more than £150 million invested into the squad, which included headline arrivals such as Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons.

What next for Spurs after ownership talks

Spurs have long been linked with potential takeovers, including reported interest from Saudi Arabia, although none of those rumours have ever materialised into genuine bids.

In the club’s official statement following Levy’s departure, Tottenham made it clear that the recent restructuring of the board does not currently alter the ownership or shareholder structure of the club.

Peter Charrington is now set to take up the role of Non-Executive Chairman, stepping in as Levy’s replacement, and his task will be to steady the ship as Tottenham look to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet.
