Leyton Orient release statement after positive COVID-19 results – Announcement to come later

Leyton Orient have announced this afternoon that a number of the first team squad have tested positive for COVID-19, just one day before they are set to play Tottenham.

The two sides were drawn against each other in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with the match set to be played out at Brisbane Road, Leyton’s home ground.

The League Two side revealed in a statement that they have informed both Tottenham and the EFL and will make an announcement regarding the match in due course.

Leyton Orient have closed their stadium and training ground for the time being until further notice.

Tottenham last played a competitive game just yesterday, defeating Southampton 5-2, and were originally set to play Leyton on Tuesday followed by a Europa League game on Thursday.

However, it now remains to be seen whether the Carabao Cup game is set to go ahead on its original date or whether the game will be rescheduled.
