Ligue 1 club president insists rumoured Spurs target is staying put

Rennes president Nicolas Holveck has claimed that Eduardo Camavinga, who is said to be on Tottenham’s radar will remain with the Ligue 1 side.

Spurs will reportedly look to take advantage of the Ligue 1 clubs’ financial distress to land some bargain deals this summer according to Football Insider.

Among the talents in France that the North Londoners have been linked with is Camavinga, who has established himself as an important part of Rennes’ midfield this season after breaking into the side last term.

It was reported in March that the 17-year-old’s performances had caught the attention of both Liverpool and Spurs (Sport), while Real Madrid have also been linked with a swoop for the youngster (Marca).

The teenager is said to be valued at around £43million by Rennes (Football.London).

However, it looks like Spurs, as well as the other members of the chasing pack may have to give up their hopes of landing Camavinga this summer after Holveck ruled out any possibility of the midfielder leaving Roazhon Park.

The Rennes president told RTL (as relayed by Goal.com): “For Eduardo Camavinga, the project is to continue to progress at Stade Rennais.

“The next season should be that of the consecration in Rennes for him. Very sincerely, yes, the project next season will be with Eduardo.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Camavinga has shown maturity beyond his years with his performances for Rennes this season and there is no doubt that he is destined for the top. However, I am also extremely excited about Oliver Skipp’s prospects next season as I believe the Spurs academy graduate as all the attributes to be a top defensive midfielder. Singing Camavinga could adversely affect Skipp’s development.
