Club president admits rumoured Spurs target will be sold this summer

Amiens president Bernard Joannin has admitted that the club will sell rumoured Spurs target Serhou Guirassy this summer.

Guirassy’s performances have stood out this season in what has been an extremely disappointing season for Amiens.

Despite the club having suffered relegation after the league was ended early by the coronavirus pandemic, the striker managed nine goals in 23 Ligue 1 appearances (transfermarkt.com).

Tottenham have reportedly sent scouts to France in February to watch the 24-year-old score twice in the 4-4 draw with PSG (Daily Mail).

Le10 Sport reported earlier this moth that the North Londoners were facing competition from Chelsea and West Ham for the centre-forward’s signature, with the report suggesting that the Hammers were leading the race.

Joannin has now opened up on the agreement he has in place with Guirassy to sell him this summer and revealed that the club have received offers from England during the last window.

Speaking to L’Equipe’s du Soir programme (as relayed by Le11Amienois), the Ligue 1 club’s president said: “With Serhou, we have a commitment (to let him go this summer).

“He had important proposals from English clubs (in January), but he wanted to stay to save the club – these were the words he said to me. He wanted to go to until the end of the story with his teammates.

“(Now) we have important proposals from England and also from France.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Guirassy has shown glimpses of fantastic ability this season and his physical presence might give us something different, I believe we have to be aiming higher than the 24-year-old. I would prefer someone like Arkadiusz Milik who is proven at the top level.
