‘Like a raving lunatic’ – Pundit claims Spurs man is putting on an act for the crowd

Simon Jordan has labelled Antonio Conte a ‘raving lunatic’ for his actions in the Tottenham dugout and believes it is only an act to pander to the crowd.

The Italian was appointed by Tottenham last month in place of the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo and has seemingly steadied what was a rocking ship in North London.

Conte quickly switched the side to his preferred formation with a back three and has guided the side to three wins from his first four Premier League games.

While Spurs fans are starting to be impressed with improvements on the pitch, his actions off it are also capturing plenty of attention.

The former Inter Milan boss has been known to be enthusiastic down on the touchline and is often seen pacing up and down his technical area barking out orders to his men on the field.

However, that has not impressed former Crystal Palace owner Jordan, who believes Conte’s actions are a gimmick and are purely a ‘sideshow’ for Spurs fans in the stands.

He told talkSPORT: “I’ve never liked managers to be over-demonstrative, it’s for the crowd. I think it’s a sideshow, but it’s investment. Conte’s like a raving lunatic inside the technical area, isn’t he?”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is nothing wrong with a manager showing emotional investment on the touchline, and honestly, it is a breath of fresh air compared to what Spurs have seen in the last couple of seasons. Conte has his own methods and he can do as he pleases if it gets the best out of the players at this disposal.
