Line Up: Bournemouth v Spurs – James Maddison boost for Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou has named his Tottenham Hotspur side which will take to the field in this afternoon’s early Premier League clash against Bournemouth.

Tottenham head to the south coast on the back of their impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United in North London last weekend to register their first three points of the new campaign.

Away form was a problem for Spurs towards the end of last season and they could only muster a draw at Brentford on the opening day, meaning they have won one of their past 11 away games in all competitions, drawing three and losing seven.

The Cherries have a point from their first two games under new manager Andoni Iraola following a draw with West Ham United and a defeat at Liverpool.

Who starts for Spurs against Bournemouth

James Maddison, who was spotted in a protective boot and crutches in the aftermath of the win over United, takes his place in the starting eleven today.

Postecoglou told Football.London when asked about the playmaker at yesterday’s press conference: “Yeah Madders trained today unrestricted.

“We’ll see how he pulls up but at this stage it looks like he will be available. We’ll assess how he feels but yeah he trained.”

He added when asked about the issue Maddison was experiencing: “I think it was the incident when [Cristian] Romero got brought down. He had a shot and it was a block-tackle. His ankle was a bit sore after that, but the medical team looked after him.

“There was no real push to have him available. It was down to him. People would have seen him in a moon boot, but it was more precautionary. He has felt good and probably could have trained yesterday. He trained today unrestricted, so obviously nothing serious.”
