Line Up: Spurs v Shakhtar Donetsk – Harry Kane starts

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has named his third starting line up for the north Londoners ahead of today’s pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The match is being played in a bid for the club to raise funds for Shakhtar’s charitable foundation, the Shakhtar Social, in support of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as a result of the armed conflict with Russia.

Today marks Postecoglou’s first experience of leading his Spurs side out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before he gets to do it for real a week on Saturday when Manchester United are the visitors in the Premier League.

Manor Solomon, who joined Tottenham on a free transfer earlier this summer is also involved having left Shakhtar as a free agent as a result of his contract with his former club having been suspended when FIFA amended Annex 7 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Shakhtar Donetsk chief executive Sergei Palkin had previously admitted that he wanted to meet with Tottenham on the eve of the fixture to discuss recouping some sort of transfer fee for the Israeli winger, having felt his club have been unfairly left empty-handed by the ruling.
