Linked star ‘likes’ social media post claiming he is set to join Tottenham

Pierluigi Gollini has seemingly confirmed reports that he is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur by ‘liking’ Fabrizio Romano’s post on social media about the impending transfer.

Gollini, who previously had a brief spell in Aston Villa in 2016, has been Atalanta’s number one for the last three seasons.

Reports first emerged on Monday that Spurs were close to reaching an agreement with Atalanta for the goalkeeper before it was then confirmed by other sources that the North Londoners are set to sign the 26-year-old on a loan deal with an option to buy.

The transfer has now got Romano’s ‘Here We Go’ seal of approval on Instagram and Spurs fans picked up on the fact that the Atalanta star had ‘liked’ the journalist’s post.

Some reports from Italy have alleged that Tottenham will pay a loan fee of €3m (£2.6m) and will have an option to buy Gollini permanently for €15m (£13m) which will become an obligation if the player makes a specified number of appearances next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is a very shrewd piece of business for a number of reasons, perhaps mainly because there are no downsides if the move does not work out for Gollini just as it did not for Carlos Vinicius last season. However, my suspicion is that the Italian will do well enough for Spurs to take up the permanent option.
