Liverpool are unlikely to make a move for Spurs and Arsenal striker target – Journalist

Despite the fact that Arne Slot is now the favourite to take over at Liverpool, journalist Ben Jacobs believes that Tottenham need not worry about the prospect of the Reds poaching Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

While there had already been plenty of speculation linking Gimenez with a move to Spurs over recent months, the rumours have intensified even more after the striker was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during Sunday’s North London Derby.

It was revealed by The Daily Mirror reporter Ryan Taylor a couple of days ago that the Mexican striker was accompanied to the game by his father and agent, Mariel Duayhe.

It was subsequently asserted by CalcioMercato.it on Tuesday that Tottenham are in the ‘front row’ to land the Feyenoord star ahead of several Serie A clubs.

Liverpool are not interested in Santiago Gimenez

Some Spurs fans might have fears of Liverpool entering the race for Gimenez, particularly with Slot looking set to swap De Kuip for Anfield at the end of the season.

However, Jacobs believes that the Dutch coach is unlikely to want to bring the striker with him from Rotterdam to Merseyside.

The journalist has now told GiveMeSport: With Santiago Gimenez, there’ll be a lot of talk and he’s another name in this vast flurry of expected movement of top strikers, goalscorers, forwards or creative-minded players that are all going to be on the move.

“Gimenez can be added to the list of potentials that may go somewhere else this summer, along with other names such as Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko, Ivan Toney, Victor Gyokeres, potentially Evan Ferguson and Jonathan David. And if we’re not talking about out-and-out strikers, your Michael Olise’s as well.

“There’s such a high volume of suitors looking, that the likelihood is that somebody will come in for Santiago Gimenez, who has had an excellent season.

“Liverpool are not one of the clubs that have historically been pursuing Gimenez or tracking him to any degree, and I would still be quite surprised if Arne Slot changes that.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Irrespective of whether Liverpool enter the race for Gimenez, one thing that appears clear is that Tottenham are going to face quite a bit of competition for the 23-year-old’s signature this summer.

This transfer saga will likely have plenty of twists and turns, with the striker’s representatives seemingly having talks with many clubs across Europe.
