Liverpool could hand Tottenham a £6m cash boost this summer – Journalist

Ruben Amorim looks set to take over as Liverpool’s next manager this summer, and if he does, it is thought the Sporting Lisbon boss will bring some players with him from the Portuguese side. For Tottenham Hotspur, this will be of particular interest as their former player, Marcus Edwards, is on the shortlist.

With Jurgen Klopp departing his role as Liverpool boss at the end of the season, there has been much speculation regarding who will replace him at Anfield.

All the talk over the last week has suggested that Ruben Amorim will leave Sporting Lisbon in the summer to take up the top job at Liverpool. However, the man himself did deny that late last week (Sky Sports).

Will Marcus Edwards sign for Liverpool?

If he does make that switch, there could be a very interesting turn of events for Tottenham. That is, if Amorim was to look at bringing some Sporting Lisbon players with him, namely Marcus Edwards.

According to Pete O’Rourke (via Football Insider), the former Spurs winger is high on the shopping list for Amorim, along with his Lisbon teammate, Goncalo Inacio.

Portuguese outlet, A Bola, has recently suggested Spurs are keen to bring Edwards back to North London. According to that report, Lisbon would want at least €20m (£17m) for the player.

But, it is worth noting that Spurs still hold a 35% sell-on-clause for Edwards. This means the Lilywhites could either sign him at a cheaper price, or benefit from any potential move from their rivals in red. For example, 35% of £17m would be £5.95m.

It seems Sporting Lisbon have dramatically cut the price on Edwards, and he’s definitely a player we should consider signing. That said, if Liverpool beat us, then at least we get some money. Either way, it’s a win-win for Spurs if he does move on.
