Liverpool fans hijack Spurs poll to ensure star does not make team of the decade

The year of 2019 and the decade is drawing to a close, and Tottenham thought they would commemorate the occasion with a poll on their Twitter account.

The poll went through position by position to ask fans who their favourite player of the decade were, presumably before announcing a team of the decade.

For example, one poll gave fans the choice between Harry Kane, Peter Crouch, or Jermain Defoe up front.

Kane has played 277 games and scored 181 goals for Tottenham, with every single one coming in this decade (Wikipedia).

Peter Crouch scored 24 goals in 93 games for the Lilywhites, but only played between 2010 and 2011 this decade (Wikipedia). Jermain Defoe also played 176 games and scored 75 goals between 2009 and 2014 for Spurs (Wikipedia).

The choice between the three seemed clear, and it was for a good while. However, Liverpool fans then decided to hijack the vote in order to get ex-Red Crouchy into the top spot (Daily Mail).

They eventually managed to overturn Kane’s lead and the votes finished with 61% in Crouch’s favour, 33% to Kane, and 6% to Defoe.

Peter Crouch and Tottenham reacted to the hijacking:
