Liverpool legend reveals the two clubs that are realistic options for Gareth Bale

Liverpool legend Ian Rush believes that Gareth Bale’s only realistic options of a return to the Premier League are at Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United.

Bale didn’t get on the pitch when Real Madrid were beaten 2-0 by Real Betis in the final match of the La Liga season and headed straight down the tunnel at the final whistle rather than remain with the rest of the players to take part in the lap of honour to thank the Los Blancos fans for their support during the campaign.

The 30-year-old’s lack of game time was evident when he looked off the pace for Wales in their Euro 2020 defeats by Croatia and Hungary.

The Sun have previously reported that Real Madrid was offered to Spurs in a £10million loan deal with the Spanish giants desperate to offload the player who had previously turned out for the North London side.

Manchester United are also said to have rejected the chance to hold discussions over a switch to Old Trafford (ESPN).

When Rush was asked by the BBC about Bale moving to Spurs or United, he said: “Apart from that, where else are you looking at?”

“Looking at Manchester United last season, I think he’d walk into that side now.”

Rush added: “When a club wants to get rid of you and he wants to stay, it’s very difficult and I feel for him because like I’ve said before, Real Madrid supporters should be applauding him.

“You get to a stage now where different managers have different ways. You just hope that Gareth gets back, hopefully, in the Premier League because everyone wants to see him play.

“In the last two Wales games he hasn’t been the player he is, but sometimes even the greatest players have to have a couple of bad games.”

Opinion

While Rush may believe that Bale could be a good fit for Spurs, the salary he earns in Madri makes it practically impossible to return to N17.
