Liverpool legend urges Harry Kane to make this transfer decision regarding his future

Liverpool legend, John Barnes, has urged Harry Kane to snub the opportunity to leave Tottenham and stay at the club for the rest of his career.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Kane’s future at Spurs, with recent reports suggesting that the striker is open to a new challenge (Telegraph).

Manchester United are said to be keen on signing the 26-year-old when the transfer market reopens in the summer (Express).

The England captain has also been linked with a move to Juventus, with the Serie A champions even reportedly willing to offer Paulo Dybala to Spurs as a part of the deal (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).

However, Barnes believes that Kane should look to stay at his boyhood club and help guide them to silverware rather than jumping ship in order to win trophies for himself.

He compared the Spurs star’s predicament to Bobby Robson’s at Manchester United.

Speaking to BonusCodeBets.co.uk, the former Liverpool midfielder said: “Harry Kane should not look to leave Tottenham if he loves Spurs and is a fan of the club.

“If all players wanted to leave their club to win a trophy, all the players would go to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City or a Liverpool, and you’ll never have anyone playing anywhere else.

“You know you’re a Tottenham fan, you want to play for Tottenham so stay at Tottenham to try and help them win.

“Very similar with Bryan Robson at Manchester United. United and England captain at the time, whilst United were not doing well, he could have easily left.

“He thought I’m going to stay at Manchester United and help them to win.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that so many in the media are desperately trying to sow some unrest and get Kane to leave Spurs, it is refreshing to hear Barnes call for him to stay. Having come through the system, winning one trophy with Spurs will mean much more to Kane than winning several with a team like Juventus.
