Liverpool player rejects opportunity to attend Champions League final

Liverpool had one hand on the Champions League trophy last season only for goalkeeper Loris Karius to make two huge errors to help Real Madrid to victory in Kiev

Jurgen Klopp has lost his previous six finals, including his last three in Europe, and is yet to win silverware after three attempts with Liverpool..

The German was at fault for Madrid’s first and third goals in Liverpool’s 3-1 loss. Karius threw the ball against Karim Benzema shortly after the interval and then spilled Gareth Bale’s long-range shot seven minutes from time.

Karius apologised to the fans after the game and was visibly upset. He is currently on a two-year loan deal at Turkish outfit Besiktas and has turned down the offer to attend Saturday’s final against Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the Daily Mail, all of Liverpool’s squad have been given the opportunity to receive tickets to watch the game at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium with Karius snubbing the opportunity in fear of becoming a distraction to the Liverpool players.

Instead, the goalkeeper will watch on from afar whilst on holiday.
