Liverpool player reveals what he discovered against Spurs this season

There is just a week until Tottenham Hotspur take to the field in the biggest game in the club’s history when they face Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Liverpool go into the game as favourites having amassed an impressive 97 points in the Premier League this season which included home and away victories against Tottenham.

The match at Anfield in particular was a tight affair which Tottenham could have won if Moussa Sissoko had not squandered a perfect opportunity to win the game which proved costly when a Hugo Lloris mistake gifted the Reds victory.

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, who played a played a pivotal part in their comeback against Barcelona has insisted that he is expecting another tough game from Mauricio Pochettino’s side in Madrid.

Spurs could be boosted be the return of academy products Harry Kane and Harry Winks for the final which would represent a significant boost in their chances of beating Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Wijnaldum told Liverpool’s official website: “You could see it how tough Tottenham are, if you look back at the two games we played against them, they were really tough – especially the second one. We won in the end, but it could have gone differently in that game. They are a really tough team; we’ve faced them a lot of times and every time it has been tough – we have never played against them and it was easy – so we know what we will have to do.”

Opinion

With more composure from Sissoko, Spurs would have won at Anfield. Form goes out of the window in a cup final and the lilywhites are more than capable of beating the scousers.
