Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both looked extremely unlikely to make the Champions League final this season, after leaving themselves with mountains to climb in the competition.

Liverpool were 3-0 down to Barcelona as they welcome the Spanish giants to Anfield in the second leg, while Spurs found themselves 3-0 down to Ajax on aggregate with just 45 minutes left to play in Amsterdam.

Miraculously, both English sides defeated their opponents and carved a path to the most surprising of all-Prem finals.

Spurs and Liverpool will now meet in Madrid on June 1 to fight it out for the trophy, but the Reds have now been given a significant injury boost in their preparations for the match.

The Mirror report that Roberto Firmino has stepped up his rehab ahead of the final, after being out with a thigh tear for the last five games. Firmino last featured against Barcelona in the first leg loss in Spain.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Despite being a Tottenham fan, the journeys both clubs have been on to reach the final have been incredible. It only seems right that both sides are able to field their strongest line up to create a proper final that lives up to the matches before. That means Firmino, Kane, Winks, and any other injured stars fighting for fitness. Both teams deserve a bit of luck on the injury front, and may the best side win.
