Liverpool receive unfair advantage over Spurs ahead of Prem clash

Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool this weekend in a third plays first top of the table clash at Anfield.

Spurs may no longer be in the title race, but they could have a big hand in deciding where the trophy goes this season, as they face trips away to both Liverpool and Man City.

Tottenham also still have their own agenda this campaign, after a run of rotten games, the Lilywhites find themselves embroiled in a fight for the top four.

Considering how comfortable they were in third a few weeks ago, it would be a disaster for Spurs to miss out on Champions League football altogether next season.

Pochettino’s men currently sit one point above Arsenal, three above Man United, and four above Chelsea.

The majority of the Spurs first team has been away on international duty over the past week, including top stars Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Heung Min Son, Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld, and Jan Vertonghen.

However, Liverpool’s biggest goal threat, Mo Salah, was given exemption from the Egypt squad over the international period, in order for him to rest up for the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp claims it is good for the player to have some rest after all the games he has played, which seems strange when Tottenham’s stars have played a similar of games, if not more.

Klopp said (Football London): “He always played pretty much all games, everywhere for country, for us and all that stuff, so it was really important [he could have a break].

“Now he will be here, a full week to prepare for the rest of the season, so that’s cool. I spoke to him, he looked really relaxed and in a good mood. Now, let’s go.”
