Liverpool seek to gain an advantage in CL final by tweaking schedule

With just three days to go for the biggest game of the annual football calendar, both Liverpool and Tottenham are busy making their final preparations ahead of their grand final.

The entire Tottenham Hotspur squad along with the coaching staff will fly out to Madrid on today and spend two days preparing in the Spanish capital ahead of the big game on Saturday.

The Daily Mail confirmed recently that Tottenham’s talisman Harry Kane will fly out to Madrid with the rest of the squad today, after training with the team this week.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds have decided that they will only fly out to Madrid on Friday, 48 hours after the Lilywhites.

It is claimed that Jurgen Klopp wants to ensure that the Liverpool players treat the game as just another European fixture and will travel and train at the venue only on the day before the game.

It is further suggested that during last year’s final Liverpool arrived in Kiev two days before the game, and the Liverpool players felt as if the time dragged prior to the big match, which is why the club have decided to change their routine this year.

We will have to wait and see if this strategy by Klopp bears fruit. The team that likely handles the occasion better will prevail on Saturday and Liverpool’s experiences in Kiev will certainly be an advantage for them.

However, Pochettino’s men certainly won’t roll over easily and have already proven that they will keep fighting till the last minute.
