Liverpool left-back, Andy Robertson has admitted that he expects the title race to be a lot tighter than it was last season and mentioned Tottenham as one of the teams who could challenge the Reds.
Liverpool ran away with the title last season as they pulled away from the others in the first couple of months and never looked back.
Manchester City were once again considered by many as the team likeliest to challenge Liverpool for the league title coming into the campaign but Pep Guardiola’s men have made a poor start to the season.
Their 2-0 loss to Spurs on Saturday has left them languishing in the bottom half of the table, while the result took Jose Mourinho’s side to the summit of the rankings.
After an indifferent start to the season, Liverpool have found form over recent weeks and are only behind Spurs on goal difference as things stand.
Speaking about Liverpool’s challenge in retaining the title, Robertson told Sky Sports: “I do think this season will be a lot tighter. I think teams have improved. You see Tottenham, you see Leicester, you see Chelsea. They have all improved so much.”
