Rumours are circulating that Liverpool are set to offer Ryan Babel in a deal to take Roman Pavlyuchenko to Anfield.

Pavlyuchenko is keen to leave White Hart Lane, whilst Liverpool are lacking a striking presence with Fernando Torres struggling with injuries.

Babel has also been vocal about a desire to quit Liverpool, with first-team opportunities hard to come by.

Spurs are looking to recoup the £13.8m they spent on the Russian forward, but with Liverpool’s well-documented financial issues, a swap deal may be the only way they can achieve bringing Pavlyuchenko in.

  1. I personally dont rate Babel, he wont cut the mustard and if he is moaning about sitting on the bench at Liverpool, he will moan about sitting on the bench for Spurs. Sorry to see Pav go, i dont think he has had a fair crack to be honest, but every oppertunity he has been given , he hasnt exactly taken his chances.

  2. Well everyone knows you need a good run of games to realy get back into the game. Pav never had that. Its a pity. He hardly got to start and only comes on as sub in the dying minutes. Personally i feel he is better than Keane and Crouch. But i am sure he will leave this Jan. If he goes to Liverpool i think he will do well. I also feel that we might cash in on Keane in Jan. Maybe bring in Ruud won’t be a bad idea.

  3. If Babel can play up front and is more effective than Crouch then I’d go for the swap. I think swapping a player that doesn’t play for one that does is a good deal so it could be a good deal all round.

For me, Crouch will never be a ‘top 4’ player and is mid-table. He misses far too many chances at 0-0 and just doesn’t cut it.

It would be a gamble, but his pace and power could be crucial
