Lloris backs Kane to join the elite

Tottenham Captain Hugo Lloris believes team mate Harry Kane has the ability to become one of the best players in the world according to the London Evening Standard.

The man labelled “one of our own” by the Tottenham faithful has racked up an impressive 108 goals in 173 matches for his club bringing comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, a duo who have set and broken their fair share of football records in recent times.

It is of course not lost on the worlds media that Kane and his Tottenham team mates face Ronaldo and the Madrid galacticos in the coming weeks.

Lloris did stress that Kane was not yet on par with Ronaldo or Messi, but that he was as important to Spurs as the two worlds best players are to Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

Lloris is impressed with Kane’s start in this season’s Champions League, but was keen to stress that this was only the start. The Tottenham Captain said “Harry has a lot of things to prove in the Champions League. Five goals in two games is fantastic and hopefully he will carry on in the same way.

“In every team you have a big goalscorer and for Tottenham that is Harry. We know his aptitude for scoring important goals. He is our main player.

Lloris continued “It’s like that in top teams. Madrid have Ronaldo. Barca have Messi. Is he our Ronaldo? No, he is Harry Kane.

The France Captain went on to say “We cannot compare what is not comparable. Ronaldo and Messi are from a different galaxy. I am not worried about him, he is connected with the world, he is very calm, he is a hard worker and he is very ambitious.

“Ambitions are very important in football because if you lose  your personal ambition it can become difficult.

We are tied with Real Madrid on six points at the top of Group H  ahead of our double header against Zinedine Zidane’s men and Lloris said Spurs can look forward to the games in a more relaxed frame of mind now that they have six point cushion on Borussia Dortmund and Apoel.

Lloris added “It is a good feeling because we are going to play Real Madrid with a free mind. In Madrid we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. It is important to stay focused in the league because we need to recover some points we have lost at Wembley.

We play Huddersfield on Saturday with a 12.30pm kick off at the John Smiths stadium.
