Lloris gives blunt title reality check

Hugo Lloris has given a blunt reality check by insisting we should be thinking about the top four not the title.

We have of course lost against Manchester United, Chelsea and now Arsenal so far this season, scoring just one goal in the process with just the impressive 4-1 home defeat of Liverpool in our favour when it comes to battling the ‘Big Six’.

And, despite coming relatively close in the last two seasons, according to The Daily Star Lloris has said a first Premier League crown since 1961 was not something to focus on.

“Before we think about City it’s important to stay in the top four,”: said the Frenchman.
“This is the main target for our team. We heard from outside that Tottenham play for the title, blah, blah, blah.

Lloris added: “The most important thing is to stay consistent in the League. We have been in the top four the last two years and we need to carry on, to settle the club in this position and try to get more experience, because the team is still young, then reduce the gap with the best.

Lloris added “Obviously, the future for Tottenham will be bright if we keep the same mentality.”

It adds that we have already qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League but face a battle with Real Madrid to finish top of our group.
Lloris was quick to stress that Dortmund should not be taken lightly. “We don’t have to go there with the attitude that we are already qualified,” he said.

“Dortmund have pride and they will be ready for a fight. They are in a bad moment, they have just lost again (2-1 to Stuttgart on Friday), and they want to bounce back and to qualify for the Europa League.
“But it’s also important for us to bounce back. It doesn’t taste good to lose two games in a row.”

So what do we make of Hugo’s words. A captain talking sense or a maybe a defeatist attitude which is not great, especially from your Captain. Let us know your thoughts
