Lloris is the best Premier League goalkeeper of 2019 in this key area

WhoScored have reported that Hugo Lloris has the highest save success rate amongst Premier League goalkeepers in 2019.

Hugo’s success rate of 79.4% was significantly higher than second-place Fabianski’s 75% and shows how important the shot-stopper was to Spurs towards the end of last season.

Hugo’s best performances last year came in the Champions League run, especially in the second leg against Dortmund when he was a brick wall in a clean sheet performance. He also kept Spurs in the game against Ajax with some superb saves.

Much has been made of the goalkeeping abilities of Alisson and Ederson this past season, however, these numbers from WhoScored show that Lloris is still one of the best in the business when it comes to the core elements of goalkeeping.

After his campaign began with scandal when he was fined for drink driving, it is good to see the World Cup winner making headlines for his ability on the pitch (BBC News). Hopefully, Hugo can perform just as well next season!

Stats like these show just why Lloris has been Tottenham’s No.1 and captain for so long. He is a top-level goalkeeper who has consistently been one of the best in the country and has helped Spurs improve considerably from where they were when he joined in 2012.
