Lloris names Tottenham pair who could help them get over the line against Man City

Tottenham will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday with a one-goal advantage when they take on Manchester City for a place in the final four of this season’s Champions League.

Spurs put in a brilliant performance in the first leg to ensure that they have the upper hand.

They also managed to ensure that the visitors didn’t get an away goal which means that Spurs travel to Manchester knowing that City have to score three if Mauricio Pochettino’s side find the back of the net once.

While the result in the first leg was indeed a great one for Spurs, City are still the favourites to progress to the semi-final of the competition.

Spurs will also have to make do without their talisman Harry Kane after scans confirmed that he had damaged the ligaments in his left ankle.

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has shed light on how Spurs will approach the game in the second leg.

The Frenchman insisted that Spurs need to attack with pace and exploit the space which Man City are going to give them.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said, “We are going to probably have a lot of space to use so we need the attacking players to be ready to run and to give problems to their defence.”

The World Cup winner also backed Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura to shine in the absence of Kane.

He added, “They have different profiles [Moura and Son]. Of course, we would prefer to have Harry but every time the gaffer gives the chance to Lucas and Son they respond very well.

“They have scored important goals this season. It was so good for Lucas to get three against Huddersfield.”
