Hugo Lloris has called on Tottenham to make their quality count as they chase a top four breakthrough.

Spurs drew 1-1 at West Brom on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to 14 games and set a new club record in the Barclays Premier League.

They have not lost since the opening day against Manchester United but are yet to crack the top four this season after eight draws during their streak.

Dele Alli’s opener was cancelled out by James McClean and, with Spurs fifth, Lloris knows victory over the Newcastle next weekend is vital.

“To get benefit of this game and the last game (a 0-0 draw with Chelsea) we need to get three points against Newcastle,” said the goalkeeper, with Spurs also hosting Monaco in the Europa League on Thursday.

“It was a tough game in really bad conditions. Sometimes you need to keep fighting during the game and try to do your best to not lose. The spirit is still great. Probably that kind of game in the past we could have lost it. Everyone is ready to do their best for the team.”

Lloris pulled off a stunning stop to deny Jonas Olsson a second-half winner but the France international played down his impact.

“It’s more about decisions. I took the decision to stay on my line and I touched it and put It over my bar. It’s always a good feeling when you can help the team get points,” he told Spurs TV.

The Baggies are unbeaten in three games and boss Tony Pulis praised their resilience after falling behind in all three matches.

He told the club’s official site: “The really pleasing thing is that we have played three really good sides and come back to get something, which shows great character and that is what I look for in my teams.

“We played some good football at times and created some wonderful chances.

“Hugo Lloris pulled off a great save from Jonas Olsson’s chance.”
